After a gap of almost two decades, actor Sudha Chandran, (Ramola Sikand of ‘Kahiin Kisii Roz’) will be re-entering the Tamil scene. The actor, who has earlier acted in Tamil films is making her debut on television.
Sudha is all set to play the lead in the mega serial ‘Jaiyam’ (Jaya TV) to be aired on September 4. Produced by Jakarb telefilms, the show is directed by Prabhu Nepal and produced by his wife Kutty Padmini. The show is a sequel to Kutty’s earlier serial ‘Krishnadasi’. Sudha says, “I play the daughter of a poor temple priest. She is a danseuse and wants to make money to get her family out of poverty. She marries a rich guy but faces a lot of trials and tribulations in her sasural.” She adds, “My character is not entirely negative. It has grey shades.”
Sudha, who is presently also shooting for Balaji’s ‘K Street Pali Hill’ (Star Plus) says, “I am required to shoot for ‘Jaiyam’ only for five days in a month. Being able to speak Tamil fluently, I complete 25 episodes each time I visit Chennai.”
Married to director Ravi Kumar Dnag, Sudha has also completed shooting for the Marathi film ‘Durge Durghat Dari’ in Kolhapur. Devi kavacham meaning.

Sudha Chandran, the noted dancer, who last did a Tamil film nearly 12 years ago, is now all set to act in a Tamil serial titled 'Jaiyam,' to be premiered shortly on Jaya TV. Prabhu Nepal of Jakaarb Telefilms is introducing Sudha, a top TV artiste in Hindi soaps, to Tamil. She plays the central character of Ranganayaki, a strong willed woman from an aristocratic family in Thanjavur. Due to circumstances, she is forced to shift base to Chennai and has to start life afresh. The serial will have a good dose of Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam. Several leading dancers and singers will make guest appearances. The show will be shot on a set and 'Jaiyam' will have a rich look with costumes and jewellery never seen before in Tamil serials.SREEDHAR PILLAI
